- Punakha Dzong: Sitting between two rivers, this palace is like something from a fairy tale. Purple flowers bloom around it in spring. It’s where the king got married! Photography outside is allowed – take lots of pics!
- Buddha Dordenma: The huge golden Buddha statue is visible from everywhere in Thimphu. Inside are 100,000 smaller Buddha statues. Sunset time is best – the valley looks magical from here!
- Dochula Pass: 108 white stupas with prayer flags everywhere. On clear days, you see the Himalayan mountains stretching forever. There’s a small cafeteria – try the tea!
- Memorial Chorten: Heart of Thimphu city. Locals come here every day to pray, walk around it, and spin prayer wheels. It’s peaceful, and you get to see real Bhutanese daily life.
- Chimi Lhakhang: The “fertility temple” – couples come here to get blessings for children. The walk through rice fields to reach it is beautiful. You’ll see… interesting decorations (it’s famous for those!).
