Shillong

Mawlynnong Village
Known as Asia's cleanest village, thanks to strict no-plastic, no-litter rules kept by the community itself.

Umngot River, Dawki
Famous for water so clear that boats appear to float in mid-air.

Jaintia Hills
A lesser-visited region east of Shillong, with turquoise waterfalls, ancient monoliths and some of India's longest caves.

- Visit the centuries-old Nartiang Monoliths from the Jaintia Kingdom
- Go caving at Liat Prah Cave — the longest in India — or at Siju and Mawsmai Caves
