This Bhutan tour with Punakha stay is a 6 night 7 day road journey that lets you sleep in the warm Punakha valley instead of rushing through it. You cross the border at Phuentsholing, spend two nights in Thimphu, then cross Dochula Pass and stay a night beside the river at Punakha before ending in Paro. Hotels are 3-star, with breakfast and dinner every day, and the package covers a Bhutanese guide, the Sustainable Development Fee and taxes. A larger Innova or Xylo handles the long border transfers, and an Ertiga covers the Bhutan sectors. Entrance fees to monasteries and museums are paid separately. It suits families and couples who prefer a steady pace over a trek. Route: Bagdogra, Phuentsholing (1 night), Thimphu (2 nights), Punakha (1 night), Paro (1 night), Phuentsholing (1 night), Bagdogra
You are received at Bagdogra Airport or NJP and driven to the border. Complete immigration and permit formalities at the Pedestrian Terminal, check in, and spend a free evening in the local market. Altitude is about 293 m.
A night in Punakha avoids a long round trip from Thimphu, leaves time for the dzong and Chimi Lhakhang, and lets you enjoy the warmer valley evening.
No. This package has no trek. Paro time is spent travelling and settling in. You can ask us to add a night in Paro if you want to hike to Taktsang.
