The best time is March to May and October to December. Spring brings clear skies and blooming rhododendrons across Yumthang Valley — absolutely stunning. Autumn delivers sharp mountain visibility and the best views of Kanchenjunga. June to September is monsoon season and best avoided due to landslide risk on mountain roads.

Tsomgo Lake is accessible for most of the year but is occasionally closed during heavy snowfall in peak winter months. The road is generally open from March to January. Nathu La Pass — if you choose the optional add-on — is open only to Indian nationals and closes on Mondays and Tuesdays plus during heavy snow.

This particular 7-day itinerary covers Tsomgo Lake, Yumthang Valley, and Gangtok sightseeing — Gurudongmar Lake is not part of this route. Yes — all required permits are arranged by Tripjyada as part of your package at no extra cost. The key permits include the Sikkim Inner Line Permit (ILP) for entering Sikkim and the North Sikkim Restricted Area Permit (RAP) for the Lachung and Yumthang Valley leg of the trip.

This tour is suitable for most age groups including families and senior travellers. Gangtok sits at a comfortable 5,500 ft. Tsomgo Lake at 12,310 ft may cause mild headaches or breathlessness for some — acclimatising in Gangtok the previous day helps significantly, and our guides keep a relaxed pace throughout.
