Itinerary

📍 Approx. 125 km | 4-5 hrs

Your Tripjyada representative meets you at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station and the Sikkim chapter begins. The drive follows the beautiful Teesta River through lush green valleys and small mountain towns — a scenic warm-up for everything that follows. Arrive in Gangtok, check in, and ease into the mountains with an evening stroll on MG Marg — Gangtok’s famous car-free promenade where the food, the views, and the energy are all equally good.

🏨 Overnight: Gangtok | Meals: Dinner

📍 Approx. 55 km one way | 12,310 ft

A morning drive up into the clouds to the sacred Tsomgo (Changu) Lake — a pristine glacial lake that sits at 12,310 ft and changes colour with every season. The lake holds deep spiritual significance for the Sikkimese people and the stillness around it is something you feel in your chest. Continue to the revered Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir — a legendary shrine where soldiers and pilgrims come to seek blessings and find an extraordinary sense of peace. Return to Gangtok by evening with the high altitude still buzzing in your lungs.

🏨 Overnight: Gangtok | Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

📍 Approx. 118 km | 5-6 hrs

Today the road heads north and the landscape gets serious. The drive to Lachung is one of the finest mountain drives in Sikkim — passing the cascading Seven Sisters Waterfalls, the wide-angle Singhik Viewpoint with Kanchenjunga on the horizon, and the thundering Nag Waterfall beside the road. Each stop raises the bar. Arrive in Lachung at 8,800 ft as the valley narrows and the mountains close in on both sides. This is proper Himalayan territory now.

🏨 Overnight: Lachung | Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

📍 Yumthang: 11,800 ft | Zero Point: 15,000 ft

The morning drive into Yumthang Valley — Sikkim’s celebrated Valley of Flowers — is a journey into one of the most beautiful landscapes in the entire Himalayan range. Rhododendrons carpet the meadows in spring. Snow blankets everything in winter. In every season, the wide open valley with its glacial river and encircling snow peaks delivers a view that feels almost too cinematic to be real. Those wanting more push on to Zero Point — where the road ends, the snow begins, and India simply runs out of road. Return to Lachung and stay the night.

🏨 Overnight: Lachung | Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

📍 Approx. 118 km | 5-6 hrs

A relaxed morning in Lachung — one last look at the valley, one last cup of butter tea — before the drive back south to Gangtok. The return journey feels reflective. The same mountains, the same waterfalls, a different light. Arrive in Gangtok by afternoon with one full day of the city still ahead. Evening free for Lal Bazaar shopping, a rooftop dinner, or simply sitting somewhere quiet watching the lights of the city spread across the hillside.

🏨 Overnight: Gangtok | Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

📍 Full day city tour

A full day dedicated to Gangtok — and the city delivers. Morning visit to the spiritually powerful Rumtek Monastery — the seat of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism and one of the most important monasteries in all of Sikkim. Continue to the Enchey Monastery perched dramatically above the city, the fascinating Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, and the Flower Exhibition Centre. Afternoon at the Himalayan Zoological Park — home to the Snow Leopard, Red Panda, and Himalayan Black Bear in a naturalistic high-altitude setting. End the day with the Tashi Viewpoint for a final sweeping panorama of Gangtok and the surrounding peaks.

🏨 Overnight: Gangtok | Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

📍 Approx. 125 km | 4-5 hrs

After a final breakfast in the mountains, check out and begin the drive back down through the Teesta valley to Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station. Six nights of glacial lakes, high-altitude valleys, thundering waterfalls, ancient monasteries, and mountain silences — all packed into memory and ready to be told.
