Best SellerBhutan Holiday Tour Packages from Bagdogra: Thimphu, Punakha, Paro & Tiger's Nest Bhutan is the sort of place where you stop checking your phone…
Bhutan is the sort of place where you stop checking your phone without being told to. Prayer flags on every ridge, a dzong at the end of every valley, rice terraces, red chillies drying on rooftops, and a country that measures progress by Gross National Happiness instead of GDP.
For Indian travellers, it is also surprisingly easy. No visa is needed, and Bagdogra to the Bhutan border at Jaigaon–Phuentsholing is a half-day drive. Tripjyada plans Bhutan tour packages from Siliguri, so we are close to the border, the permit process and the drivers who do this road every week. Whether you want a quick six-day trip, a Bhutan group tour or a long cultural circuit with Tiger's Nest, we take care of permits, hotels, vehicle and guide.

Our most popular short trip. You see the capital, cross Dochula Pass to Punakha's great dzong, and finish in Paro, with a view of the Tiger's Nest monastery above the valley (viewpoint only, not the hike).
Our representative meets you at Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or NJP station and drives you to the border at Jaigaon, about 170 km and 4 to 5 hours. Entry formalities and the Bhutan entry permit are completed at the Pedestrian Terminal in Phuentsholing. Check in, rest, and walk through the local market in the evening. Altitude here is only about 293 m, so it feels warm. Overnight in Phuentsholing.
A long scenic drive of about 6 hours, climbing from the plains into the hills with pine forests, waterfalls and tight turns. Stop for tea and photographs on the way. Reach Thimphu by evening and check in. Overnight in Thimphu. Tip: take a motion-sickness tablet if you get queasy on winding roads.
Early start for Dochula Pass (about 3,100 m), with 108 memorial chortens and, on a clear day, a wide view of the eastern Himalaya. Continue to Punakha Dzong, built where the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers meet, and walk across the Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest in Bhutan. Visit Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple. Return to Thimphu in the evening. Overnight in Thimphu.
Drive to Paro (about 1.5 to 2 hours) along the river. Depending on time, visit the Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordenma, handicraft shops and the Takin reserve in Thimphu before leaving. In Paro, stop at the viewpoint for Tiger's Nest. Overnight in Paro.
After breakfast, visit Rinpung Dzong and walk over the Nya Mey Zam bridge. Then drive back to Phuentsholing. Overnight in Phuentsholing.
Breakfast, exit formalities, and the drive back to Bagdogra by the same route. Please book flights or trains after about 4 p.m.
The Tiger's Nest hike isn't part of this plan. You can add it with an extra night in Paro. Ask us for the 6N/7D version.

Tiger's Nest is the picture on every Bhutan poster, a monastery stuck to a cliff at about 3,120 m, roughly 900 m above the valley floor. The trek is a steady uphill walk on forest trails, with a tea stop halfway and stairs near the top. It is not a technical climb, but it is tiring. Expect about 5 to 6 hours round trip, depending on pace. [Your pages quote different times, from 2 to 4 hours to 6 hours. Please pick one and use it everywhere.]
Before you go: spend a night in Paro first so you are rested, wear grippy shoes, carry a rain jacket, water and snacks, and start early. People with knee, heart or breathing problems, small children and senior citizens should take medical advice. Read the full Tiger's Nest trek guide, or see trekking in Bhutan and the toughest treks in Bhutan if you want more.
Do Indians need a visa? No. Indian citizens don't need a visa for Bhutan, but they do need an entry permit, which we arrange. It is issued at the border or airport on arrival.
Sustainable Development Fee (SDF): Indian visitors pay ₹1,200 per adult per night. Children aged 5 to 12 pay half, and children under 5 are free [please confirm the child rate, since your page is unclear]. The fee supports conservation, culture and community welfare. We tell you clearly in each package whether it is included. See our SDF page.
Documents for adults: an original Voter ID, or a passport valid for at least 6 months. Children under 18: an original English birth certificate. Four passport-size photos per person. Aadhaar and PAN are not accepted. [Your pages disagree on driving licences. Some list them as valid, others as not accepted. Please confirm with the Bhutan immigration rule and use one line everywhere.]
Guide rules: Travel in Bhutan is arranged through a licensed Bhutanese operator with a guide.
Time: Bhutan Standard Time is 30 minutes ahead of Indian Standard Time.
| Season | What to expect |
|---|---|
| March to May | Spring. Rhododendrons and clear views. A good time for Tiger's Nest and treks. |
| June to August | Monsoon. Green and quiet, but roads can be slippery and landslides are possible. |
| September to November | Autumn. Clear skies, festivals and the best mountain views. Black-necked cranes arrive in Phobjikha from late October. |
| December to February | Cold, with fog at Dochula and snow at higher points. Fewer tourists. Read Bhutan in winter and Bhutan group tour in December. |
