NH 10 Road Update: Landslide Blocks Route at Chitrey & Selfie Dara

As per the latest NH 10 Road update, the NH 10 highway, which was closed on 5th October 2025 due to a massive landslide at Chitrey and Selfie Dara, has now reopened for vehicles and tourists. Authorities started clearing the debris immediately and declared the road safe for controlled movement by early morning today (6th October).

Authorities have acted promptly, clearing the debris and ensuring the road is motorable again. However, travellers are advised to remain cautious, as the route may temporarily close again if the weather worsens or if fresh landslides occur.

Alternative Route & Charges

Vehicles are taking alternative routes as authorities manage traffic for a smooth journey. The diversion cost may vary depending on road conditions, route distance, and current circumstances. While travel times might be slightly longer, taking the alternate route remains the safest and most reliable option for travellers heading toward Sikkim until the NH 10 road update in Siliguri today shows improvement.

Situation Update & Safety Advisory

We know that the North Bengal situation is bad, not as bad as it is being portrayed. While travel was affected yesterday, The Government has been vigilant, providing essentials and managing operations. NDRF and CISF teams have been actively assisting in rescue and monitoring efforts for the past two days. Gradually, things are returning to normal in both North Bengal and Sikkim. However, exaggerated news coverage could harm tourism recovery, affecting local businesses and livelihoods.
