Through Dirang’s apple orchards and Sangti Valley’s winter crane sightings, the route climbs steadily toward Sela Pass at 4,170 metres, where the road crests into a world of frozen lakes, prayer flags snapping in the wind and mountains stretching in every direction with nothing between you and Tibet. Tawang is the heart of this journey. Home to the Tawang Monastery — established in 1681 and the second largest Buddhist monastery in Asia — the town sits at 3,048 metres and carries a stillness that stays with you long after you leave. The optional Zemithang excursion takes you deeper still, to the valley where the Nyamjang Chhu River meets the Chinese border and where the Gorsam Chorten stands as one of the largest stupas in all of Arunachal Pradesh. The return route descends through Bomdila and back to Guwahati, closing a 10-day arc across one of India’s most extraordinary and least visited states. Every permit is arranged in advance. Yes, an Inner Line Permit is mandatory for all Indian citizens visiting Arunachal Pradesh. It is an official travel document issued by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh that allows Indian nationals to enter and travel within the state. Foreign nationals require a separate Protected Area Permit instead. Tripjyada arranges the ILP for you as part of this package.
The best seasons to visit Tawang are March to June (spring and early summer — clear mountain views, manageable temperatures, rhododendrons in bloom) and September to November (post-monsoon clarity, crisp air and excellent road conditions). December to February brings heavy snow and sub-zero cold, which some travellers specifically seek out, but road closures are common.
Tawang is approximately 575 km from Guwahati by road — a journey split comfortably across 4 days in this itinerary with overnight halts at Bhalukpong and Dirang before reaching Tawang on Day 4. The driving time from Guwahati to Tawang non-stop would be approximately 15 to 17 hours, which is why we spread it over multiple days with sightseeing along the way.
Zemithang is a remote valley located approximately 45 km from Tawang toward the Indo-China border, sitting at around 2,500 metres in the Tawang district. It is one of the least visited destinations in Arunachal Pradesh and offers a completely undisturbed view of rural Monpa life, along with the historic Gorsam Chorten stupa.
Altitude is a genuine consideration on this tour. Sela Pass reaches 4,170 metres (13,678 feet) and Tawang town sits at 3,048 metres. Most healthy travellers from India acclimatise reasonably well at these altitudes, especially since the itinerary climbs gradually over several days rather than all at once. Staying hydrated and pacing yourself on Day 1 in Tawang helps significantly.
Tripjyada's 10-day Arunachal Grand Circuit starts from Rs. 26,999 per person for a group of 6 travellers. For groups of 2, the price is Rs. 32,499 per person. The package price covers all hotel accommodation (deluxe, premium or luxury categories available), meals, private vehicle transfers, the Inner Line Permit, and a local guide throughout.

Bookings Made 60 to 30 Days Prior to Tour Date An advance payment of 30% of the total tour cost + 5% GST is required at the time of booking. The balance amount must be paid as per the company payment schedule communicated at the time of confirmation. Bookings Made 20 Days Prior to Tour Date An advance payment of 30% of the total tour cost + 5% GST is required at the time of booking. Upon issuance of the hotel confirmation voucher (within 3 business days), an additional 20% of the total tour cost + 5% GST must be paid. The remaining balance amount must be settled on the day of arrival.
